Do all plans include the same features? +
Yes. Solo, Crew, and Company all include proposal creation, client authorization, one-click collection, Smart Deposits, pre-funded work phases, change orders, completion proof, client review, and the shared job workspace. The difference is the subscription and PhaseContract transaction fee—not your team size or access to tools.
I already pay for contractor software. What am I paying for here? +
An agreed payment process for each job: your client approves the schedule and payment method upfront, you collect each agreed payment without creating or sending another invoice first, and both sides follow the job in a shared workspace. You prepare that job in PhaseContract; you can keep using other tools for estimating or accounting.
When does the 30-day trial start? +
When your payment account is ready. You get 30 days with no PhaseContract fee. Stripe processing fees still apply.
What happens after the trial? +
You continue on Solo with a fee on each collected payment and no subscription. Choose Crew or Company when its lower collection fee makes the total cost lower at your volume.
Can I change plans or cancel a subscription? +
Yes, through your account’s plan controls and Stripe’s confirmation screens. An existing paid period keeps its earned transaction-fee rate until that period ends; choosing another plan does not instantly change it. Paid cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period, with no prorated subscription refund, then you return to Solo. Review the effective date and charges before confirming.
Does my client need an account or an app? +
No. Your client follows a browser link to review the proposal, authorize the job and payment method, and access their shared workspace. Their view makes payments, progress, changes, and review requests clear without learning your contractor tools.
Can I use it for a small, single-phase job? +
Yes. Use one work phase and no separate deposit if that is all the job needs. Agree the scope and payment upfront, collect before starting, then keep completion proof and the client review in the same workspace. Larger jobs can use multiple purpose-based deposits and work phases.
What about Stripe payment processing fees? +
Stripe processing is separate and paid by the contractor on every payment. Bank Transfer usually costs less than Credit Card processing on large payments. Current U.S. rates are linked above.
What does the client pay? +
The exact approved job price shown before authorization. The client does not get a separate PhaseContract surcharge.
What happens if a client needs a refund? +
PhaseContract can issue a proportional refund through its cancellation process. Other refunds go through Stripe or support. Contractors remain responsible for work-related refunds, disputes, and reversals.
